INDIVIDUAL Lessons
Hi Friends. I am a guitar, ukulele and voice instructor with an emphasis on songwriting in Encinitas California.
I have students locally and all over as I offer virtual lessons as well. I have been teaching (and professionally playing) for 25+ years and have helped many students learn their instrument and instill a passion for music and songwriting. I customize all lessons to the individual, teaching everyone from beginners to seasoned songwriters and players.
Hopefully my reviews will speak for themselves and if you are looking for a guitar instructor to push you forward, you will look no further. I specialize in songwriting, instilling a well rounded education of theory, ear training, technique and improvisation.
AREAS OF FOCUS
Guitar and uke lessons include a well rounded approach to theory, technique, intro to various styles, ear training and general performance.
Voice lessons involve technique and some classical understanding with a strong emphasis on vocal awareness and forming strong habits while breaking bad ones (we all have them).
Songwriting will focus on the basics of the craft while honing in a personal style and learning songwriting tips and strategies. One should walk away with a clear understanding of how to write a song, what differentiates strong songwriting from weak, and the ability to confidently map out song structure and feeling.
Artist development involves approach to instrument, songwriting, performance, production, and online metrics as well as overall coaching for current music business approach. In all of these areas I really try to keep people’s joy and love for these art forms alive while also growing and educating the craft.
Tuition and Rates | Scheduling
$100/Hour, $50/Half Hour, $80 Introductory Lesson
Cash, Venmo, Zelle and Check are acceptable. Credit Cards are accepted with processing fee.
Slots are scheduled weekly or bi-monthly with a recurring day/time.
Lessons are available in my in person Encinitas studio or online via Zoom.
I teach Monday through Thursday with occasional makeups on select Sundays
Artist Developement is a packaged program of 3 months (4 sessions per month), weekly meetings, and assigned work. This is for serious artists and designed as a coaching program with a rate of 3K for program. Includes workbook.

Rheanna Downey has taught professionally at Giacolettis Music school, New Haven Group Home, The Hub For Homeschool. She has played for Ted X events and performs with her band The Lonesome Roses regularly, as well as written for Paramount Pictures with songs appearing on shows such as Good Morning America.
